One never tires of looking at Joe Neill's configurations of space and color. The flourishes provided by his drawings, as well as by the little spheres, are something like a signature. As clear a metaphor as an old-fashioned artist's palette, these flourishes say: this may at times look like something else, but it is at all times art, and art of a high order. Cynthia Nadelman

The wide open spaces

In 1994, Anne Passeron wrote this text to present Joe Neill's work at his exhibition in the Lélia Mordoch gallery. Fascinated by structures, Joe Neill gives his sculptures and drawings a visual impact which is close to those of architects models and charts. The forms and images that he gives us evokes a cosmic architecture with a Baroque transparence. Charged with musical connotations(music of the spheres)these works have the grace of graphic poems.
